Plant Nursery
In the summer of 2005 the Committee “Luna Kakchiquel” decided to cooperate with the Guatemalan non profit association “Amigos del Lago” to create a nursery where the biodiversity of the community could be upheld by growing and selling local plants.

The Committee committed to supplying materials necessary for the construction of the water tank and the everyday maintenance and management through the work of 15 women. On their behalf, the association “Amigos del Lago” was responsible for supplying the plants and for renting out the land.
The profits derived from the sales will, for the most part, stay in the hands of the women, while a small percentage will be reinvested in the nursery for necessary costs and maintenance.
