Loom Course
...the women will have learned a new working skill and will therefore be able work independently...
In February 2007, the new course on how to work the Floor Loom started. This new project, part of the “Cultural Project of the Community of San Marcos la Laguna”, has the aim of teaching the technique of the Floor or Pedal Loom that will allow the women involved to create much larger fabrics compared to the traditional Belt Loom, which is worn around the waist.
Once the course is finished, the women will have learned a new working skill and will therefore be able to work independently or cooperate with the Committee by selling their products in the “Tienda Luna Kakchiquel” and we hope to be able to introduce them soon into the Fair Trade circuit in Italy and Guatemala.
