Natural Dye Course
As of January 2005, we have introduced courses in natural dye in order to bring back the use of dying fabrics with flowers, herbs and local plants, to re-evaluate the properties of these plants and at the same time to give eco knowledge to the women, bringing them closer to their ancient Mayan ancestors’ culture. The women create colors with which they then dye the thread, used for working the floor loom or table loom.

This course has always given ex- cellent results in view of the high number of participants and the curiosity and strong interest shown by the pupils.
All the products are displayed and sold in the “Tienda Luna Kakchiquel” and the courses are open to anyone interested from outside the Committee, to help finance and support many of their other activities.
