A vegetable garden for Guatemala....
The land adjacent to the mill, which is part of the Cooperative of the Elder of the Community, was labored and prepared to host “the vegetable garden of the community.” This is done so that the women can learn the planting and management of organic plants. We hope that they will repeat this process in their houses.
We cultivate organic plants of common use (tomatoes, carrots, onion, lettuce, etc) with the intention of enriching the families’ diets which is currently very poor. Of what is left one part is given to the Cooperative of the Elders as a contribution for letting us use the land and the other part is sold in the “Luna” business. We do this with the intention of educating the community towards a healthy alimentation. To help and counsel the “Luna” women we have a student from the Agrarian University of Pisa, as a segue of a Convention between “Liberamente” and the university.
